Friends: we are in the final push for our adoption fundraising as we are headed to Costa Rica by the end of July! So, we are engaging in this exciting and wonderful opportunity to participate in a Both Hands Project. “What is the Both Hands Project?” I’m glad you asked!
-A Both Hands Project partners a family in the adoption process with a widow whose home needs some work
-All the quality work and donation of time goes to our widow partner; all the dollars raised go to bringing our kids home!
-Our Project is this Saturday, June 2, where we are spending a day serving a widow at her home
-Our team will be working on landscaping, dead trees and branches, painting, minor repairs, and a few other tasks
-Our team is seeking sponsorship dollars to work on the house (like raising money by running a 5K race)
-We still need to raise about $12,000 to meet our financial goals
-There have been more than 650 Both Hands Projects nationwide – we are excited to join in this incredible movement

These past few weeks have been full. We have:
-Officially accepted our match with C & J
-Applied for their immigration
-Had lots of visitors and life-giving time with them
-Been working hard with our team for our Both Hands project coming up
-Had two fundraisers done on our behalf by our families (you guys are the best!)
-Applied for more grants
-Done. So. Much. Paperwork.
This next week includes:
-C & J learning about us as they begin their preparation meetings!
-Our Both Hands project (https://bothhands.org/project/martin-7460)
-Hopefully a little less paperwork
We should be headed to Costa Rica in July! We will not receive the official dates for several weeks yet, but that is all part of the process. A process filled with paperwork.
We are going to share more about the Both Hands project in the coming days but we wanted to give you a heads up about what has been going on. (Answer: Paperwork.)
Guys...it happened! We are officially matched! WOOOHOOOO!!!
We will have more details to follow, but today we are just really excited! We will be traveling in the next 2-3 months to pick up our kids!
God has provided and has guided us through this all. We are so thankful!
Friends…celebrate with us!
We have been approved by Central Authority in Costa Rica!
What does that mean? Practically, it means Costa Rica has said “Yes, you may adopt from our country.” It also means that we are one more (very significant) step closer to bringing home our kiddos.
Now, the only thing we are waiting on is the official match with our kids. As we’ve shared, they have our Letter of Intent to adopt C & J specifically, which is best understood as a “soft match.” This official matching process should occur in the next few weeks.
We invite you to join with us in prayer as we await this match, specifically on Thursdays, as cases are only reviewed on that day of the week. This is the last big step before traveling to bring them home!
Below is the list of the bigger steps in the process. As many of you know, there is so much represented by this list. We are so excited to be nearing the end of this part of the process and closer to the hands-on, relational part - which will have its own process to work through, of course.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported us, prayed with us, donated, and cheered us on. Ya’ll are the best! And we love you!
